inspired by the French New Wave films, actresses like Jean Seberg and Anna Karina,” Wu told CBSNews.com at the event. “That nonchalant chic, that effortless style, mixed with American sportswear.”
The collection also features Milu, a cheeky black cat that can be seen on a T-shirt, tote bag, scarf and in the line’s marketing campaign.
“I’m a cat person,” Wu explained. “I thought the cat represents everything – it’s elegant, it’s mysterious a little bit and it’s fun.”
As for what fashion fans can expect from him at Fashion Week next month? “Something opulent,” he hinted.
“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum and model/actress Jaime King – both wearing ensembles from Wu’s Target line – were also among the stars in attendance at the Parisian-themed event. A boutique inside was stocked with the collection’s feminine dresses, blouses, pleated skirts, handbags and scarves.
The Jason Wu for Target collection will be available in stores and online starting Feb. 5. You can check out the line in the look book below.
